Welcome to the 2010 Amesbury Jets.
You are receiving this email because of your planned involvement and player registration.
We've got lots going on and thought you would want to get an update at this point, only a few weeks away from first practices.
i) First of all, registration is still open until August 16th. If you know any child that is considering football this coming season, remind them or their guardian to go to www.amesburyjetsfootball.org to sign up.
All players will be waitlisted from this point forward since we are not sure if we can accept all players at all levels, which leads my next point:
ii) Teams: Due to league rules, we had to commit team levels by July 1st. At that point our player registration levels led us to form the following teams for the upcoming season:
A (8th grade)
B (7th grade)
C (6th and 5th grade)
D (4th and 3rd grade)
All teams are in competitive divisions and will be playing for championships. No JV teams will be formed this season.
As in prior seasons, players will be assigned to teams at the start of the season and there may be players asked to be playing at other levels at the discretion of the coaches and based on player abilities.
iii) Equipment pickup along with final paperwork issues will take place during first week of practice, which begin August 16th.
VERY IMPORTANT Regarding Equipment:
This season, football players will be responsible for supplying their own practice pants with belt, girdle, blue game socks and mouth guard.
These are available, along with a JETS T-Shirt for a special price of $25 at Amesbury Skate and Sport starting July 15th.
Cheerleaders will also have to supply their own personal items and a cheering player pack will be available at Amesbury Skate and Sport as of August 1st.
Players will not be able to participate in practices without this equipment.
The Jets will supply Helmets, Game uniforms, shoulder and leg pads.
iv) First two weeks of practices (before school starts) will be up to five (5) days a week starting at around 5:30 PM until about 7 PM. Coaches will make final practice schedules and advise parents.
v) Fields: It is expected that we will have two practice fields this year, but details are still being worked out., Until further notice, we will continue to plan on the Town park as our main practice site. Games will continue to be at Landry for most, if not all, competitive level team home games.
vi) COACHES Meeting (football) will take place on this upcoming Monday, July 19th at 6 PM at the Barn Restaurant in downtown Amesbury.
WE NEED COACHES for all levels, and also Board Members and Volunteers.
No formal experience needed. If you have an interest, please come to this very important meeting.
Questions, send me an email at:
Again, thanks for joining the Jets for the 2010 season. Together, let's make it a memorable one for the kids!
Cheers,
Joe Incontri, President
